Research Field

I obtained my PhD degree in interventional science and surgery at University College London, UK. I did my post-doctoral research in rehabilitation medicine at University of Alberta, Canada. Currently I am an associate professor at Dalian University of Technology. My research focus on the public fitness and athletic training by looking at physiology, sports biomechanics, and rehabilitation medicine. The performance and fitness level will be assessed and examined by exercise tests. Meanwhile the risks and benefits of difference exercises will be evaluated. The purposes are to 1) enhance the participation of the public fitness, 2) follow-up the long-term effects of the exercises, 3) improve athletic training and prevent injuries.

The integration of public fitness and public health is the reflection of integrative medicine, in other word, the combination of sport and medicine. This is agreed with the traditional Chinese medical philosophy ‘The superior medicine prevents illness.’ However, we need an exercise prescription to guide exercise and training, including exercise type, intensity, frequency, and duration, which actually needs to be individualized. Under the topic of Health China 2030, we are committed to conduct high-quality scientific research on sports and medicine, especially personalized fitness and training programs, to help general public maintain and improve their health, while respecting individual choices and circumstances. As for athletes, developing proper training programs would not only improve their performance but also prevent and reduce injuries.

I believes that prevention and health promotion can hold health care costs down and improve quality of life in the long term. To this end, the ultimate goal of my study is committed to meeting the challenges of tomorrow by conducting scientific research and collaborating with researchers across the country and the world. The evidence-based research data and exercise prescriptions will make available to the general public and guide their daily activities and exercises, which would encourage them to take an active role in their health, such as increasing their level of physical activity and participating regular fitness programs.
